In my mid-30s, I was a stay-at-home mom raising my two young children when I discovered my passion for art. I would sit at the table and color with them as they sketched stick figure characters or filled pages in coloring books. While doing this, I often looked out the window from my chair at the dining room table and watched the birds. I started sketching what I saw in the trees and the garden, as I have always been captivated by birds and nature. They have become a recurring theme throughout both my work and my life.

This is the Little Free Library at my home. It took me a few years to paint and install it. This project was often delayed as I prioritized other tasks, but I finally decided to complete it and install it in the spring of 2024. I have received wonderful feedback from the people who stop by to visit my library. They love the artwork and the messaging, and many have mentioned that they don’t often see Little Free Libraries that are hand-painted like this one.
